Dundalk FC’s top striker for the last two seasons Patrick Hoban is on his way to sign for League Two club Oxford United.
The man nicknamed the ‘Hobanator’ will be traveling over to the League two team at the end of the week to have a look around and it is expected Michael Appleton will be offering him a contract.
It will be a massive loss to the Louth club as the Galway man was one of the main parts of the engine that drove Dundalk’s title winning season. With 20 league goals in 2014 and 17 in 2013 this will be a big gap to fill for the Lilywhites.
Rumours have already started on who is going to be coming in to replace Hoban and Portadown’s Gary Twigg is hot favourite to get the call from Stephen Kenny.
Hopefully all works out in England for Hoban as he has been a credit to the League of Ireland.
