Danny Ventre Departs Derry City After One Season

Danny Ventre has announced he has left Derry City following a Tweet by the 28-year-old earlier this afternoon.

The Liverpool native joined Derry City from Sligo Rovers in December 2013, following five years at the Bit O’ Red. Playing a captains role at Rovers, Ventre helped the club win an array of silverware including the League and FAI Cup double of 2010, the FAI Cup in 2011, the Premier Division in 2012 and finally the FAI Cup once more in 2013.

A new challenge presented itself to Ventre in the form of Derry City in December 2013 when he signed on the dotted line for the Candystripes. His final game for Derry was in their FAI Cup final defeat to St Pat’s earlier this month.

It is yet to be seen whether or not Ventre will remain in the League of Ireland but he sure to attract interest due to his winning pedigree and leadership qualities.
