Breaking: Cabinteely Awarded First Division Licence

Cabinteely FC have today been awarded a First Division Licence, meaning there will be eight teams participating in the 2015 SSE Airtricity League First Divison.

The FAI’s Licensing Committee met this morning to discuss Cabinteely FC’s application which has been awarded subject to the completion of necessary paperwork.

FAI Competitions Director, Fran Gavin, today welcomed the South Dublin club to the SSE Airtricity League,

“I would like to welcome Cabinteely FC into the SSE Airtricity League. We have been involved in discussions with the club in recent months.

“They have good structures in place and good foundations on which to build a First Division side that can compete nationally. They were accepted as a member of the SSE Airtricity League following receipt of a number of expressions of interest and subsequent discussions.”

Cabinteely, who will play their home games in Blackrock RFC’s ground in Stradbrook, will now join Athlone Town, Cobh Ramblers, Finn Harps, Shelbourne, UCD AFC, Waterford United and Wexford Youths in the second tier.

In other news, fans of the eight First Division clubs will also be delighted to hear that the fixtures for the 2015 season will be released at 2pm tomorrow.
