Keith Long’s Bohemians travel to United Park on Friday evening looking to get back to winning ways against a Drogheda side who have picked up just one point from their last three games.
Drogheda haven’t won a game since they beat Sligo Rovers on match day two and come into this game off the back of their worst performance of the season so far; a 3-0 defeat away to Derry City.
The Boynesiders again look set to have to do without the services of injured duo Sean Thornton and Neil Yadolahi while Jason Marks is suspended after picking up a controversial red card in Derry last week.
Speaking to droghedaunited.ie about their opponents, Drogs boss Johnny McDonnell said,
“We had Bohs watched last week against Shamrock Rovers and they are a very well-organised side. They’ve got a very experienced defence with a lot of quality up front and in Lorcan Fitzgerald they have someone who puts in an excellent set-piece that we need to be wary of.”
The visitors won their opening three games of the season before losing 3-0 at home to Dundalk. That game was then followed by a scoreless draw against rivals Shamrock Rovers but Bohs will be hoping to continue what has been an impressive start to the season with a win against Drogheda.
Keith Long will again be without Dave Mulcahy, who has returned to non-contact training and Dan Byrne for the trip to Louth but Anto Murphy is again available after serving a suspension for his red card in the defeat to Dundalk.
Speaking ahead of the game to bohemianfc.com, Long said he is expecting another tough game,
“Last week was tough on a part-time squad playing three games in six days, but we have fully recovered, prepared well this week and are fully focused on the game against Drogheda.
“All teams in the league are capable of taking points from each other and Drogheda will be no different on Friday, we know we will have to perform to our maximum to get anything from the game.”
