Padraig Harrington Back To His Best As He Takes Irish Open Lead

Padraig Harrington looks back to his best after he shot a superb opening round at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Lahinch, Co. Clare. 

The Dubliner shot an opening round of 63 to take the overall clubhouse lead on -7.

Harrington was among the later pairings as he, Ian Poulter and Tyrrell Hatton teed off 1.10 pm just as Shane Lowry was finishing his round where the Offaly man shot a 66 to leave him on -4 for the tournament.

Harrington shot a bogey-free front nine as he picked up birdies on the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 9th holes.

He hit a third consecutive birdie on the 10th before picking up his first bogey of the day on the 11th.

However, Harrington bounced back with back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th before notching pars on the remainder of the back nine before nailing a fantastic birdie on the par-5 18th which included a superb bunker shot to get him within a few feet of the hole.

Harrington has a two-shot lead over the chasing pack.
