Paul Dunne Leads From Harrington & Rose Following First Day In Turkey

Paul Dunne produced a fine bogey-free round of 64 to take the early lead in Turkey while Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose remain hot on his heels.

Starting at the 11th, Dunne birdie his first hole before adding birdies at the 13th,15th and 18th. The world number 105 then birdied his 9th hole, the first on the Regnum Carya Resort, to reach five under par through nine.

Harrington similarly got off to a good start with birdies at his first opening three holes. He made a par at the 4th before birdieing the 5th to take the lead.

The three-time Major winner bogeyed the par five 7th before making amends at the 9th with a birdie three. Harrington went out in 30.

Dunne made a steady start to his back nine with a run of five pars in-a-row before birdieing the 7th to get to six under after 15.

Harrington’s back nine 35 consisted of back-to-birdies at the 12th and the 13th and seven pars to cap off a fine round of 65.

Paul Dunne went one better than his compatriot Harrington as he sank a long putt at his finishing hole, the 10th at Regnum Carya, to finish with a 64 and with that a share of the lead.

Justin Rose can go back to world number one with a win this week and he got off to a quick start after holing out from the fairway for an eagle two at the 4th. He also birdied the 5th, 8th, 15th and 18th finishing in a round of 65.

Clara native, Shane Lowry, also continued his fine form, carding a three-under-par round of 68 which included five birdies and two bogeys.

But it is Dunne who leads the way by one shot and he will be in a group alongside Rose and Harrington tomorrow. They tee-off at 9:05am Irish time.

There is a whole host of stars among the chasing pack as the European Tour season heads into the final stages with places at the DP World Championship to be won.
