Team Europe watch out, Tiger Woods is back and he’s headed to this month’s Ryder Cup in Paris as a selection for Team USA.
Team USA Captain Jim Furyk has rewarded Tiger Woods’ recent form by naming him as one of his wildcard picks for the upcoming Ryder Cup, alongside Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau.

The selection marks a superb turnaround for the 14-time Major winner and former world number one, considering he was originally named as one of Furyk’s vice-captains. Woods has shown glimpses of the form of old in recent months and will be a massive addition to Team USA if it goes to the wire on the Sunday. The sight of Tiger Woods in form, and in contention, on a Sunday scares golfers like no other. Furyk has added David Duval, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar as vice-captains.
Phil Mickelson has also been named as a wildcard pick by Jim Furyk and ‘Lefty’s experience will undoubtedly aid Ryder Cup rookie, Bryson DeChambeau, whose scintillating recent form sees him make up the third wildcard pick.
DeChambeau tasted victory at the Dell Technologies Championship by two strokes on Monday, one week after sailing to victory by four strokes at The Northern Trust. At just 24, the likeable Californian is already being earmarked as a future World number one.
US Captain Jim Furyk will name his final wildcard pick next Monday after the BMW Championship.
The eight automatic selections for the US Ryder Cup team are as follows:
– Rickie Fowler
– Dustin Johnson
– Brooks Koepka
– Patrick Reed
– Webb Simpson
– Jordan Spieth
– Justin Thomas
– Bubba Watson
The 42nd Ryder Cup takes place on the Albatros Course of Le Golf National, Paris from 28th–30th of September 2018.
