Watch: Ho-sung Choi Second In Korea Open With Most Ridiculous Golf Swing Ever

The beauty of golf is that there are so many different ways to prevail in the sport.

Not dictated purely by physicality, golf has seen a legend in Tom Watson almost win the Open Championship at the age of 59 in 2009, finishing second. Shorter-hitters like Ian Poulter and Francesco Molinari have both won big events this season, the latest victories in what have been illustrious careers.

Unlike the godly swinging actions of the McIlroy’s and Oosthuizen’s of the world, non-conventional swings have also conquered the game. Major champions Jim Furyk (whose swing “looks like an octopus falling out of a tree”, per the Golf Channel’s David Feherty) and Bubba Watson are a testament to this.

South Korean player Ho-sung Choi completely takes the biscuit, however.

Ho-sung Choi currently trails Kolon Korea Open leader Minchel Choi by just two shots, thanks to this swing that would not look out of place in Happy Gilmore.

Seriously, look at this.

Ho-sung actually led the event for much of the third round, before three late birdies from his namesake Minchel, and is bang in contention heading into the final round in Cheonan.

In even more incredible news, this event, as a national open, provides two spots in the 2018 Open Championship for the top two finishers not already qualified (hat-tip: Golf Digest), so if Ho-sung can keep up his quite remarkable form, he and his incredible swing will be making an appearance at the season’s third Major championship at Carnoustie next month.
