Joe Canning is arguably one of the most talented hurlers we have ever seen, or ever will see. For years, Joe has produced a highlight reel of jaw-dropping moments. One moment may just stand out above the rest, however.
Since bursting onto the scene as a teenager back in 2008, we have been simply in awe of this man. Originally recognised as the man who brought the sideline into the mainstream, Canning’s game has developed over time.
In the earlier days of his career, Joe was known as something of a set-piece specialist. As time has gone on Canning’s game has evolved.
From the sidelines to back-hand passes to the spectacular finishes, the Portumna man is a wizard.
Many Galway supporters will still yearn for Canning to be placed at the edge of the square. It was here after all where this particular moment of magic arrived. In the game featured below the Tribesmen took on Kilkenny in the Leinster final, and Joe spent large periods at full-forward.
And how glad we are that he did, as he produced a piece of brilliance that will rival any goal ever scored in Croke Park.
After a long ball was sent in, nobody could have predicted what Joe would do here.
We’re sure you know the goal we’re talking about, but if not take a look and prepare to be amazed.
