This year’s Leinster hurling final is among the most anticipated fixtures of the summer. The unique pairing of Galway and Wexford has generated an interest like never before.
And ahead of the match, The Sunday Game have released a unique promo in honour of this.
Over the years, Kilkenny have dominated this competition. Brian Cody’s dictatorship of the province has led to a lack of interest from neutrals.
This year, however, Davy Fitzgerald has rocked into town and under his stewardship Wexford have strutted their way to a Leinster final. It will be the county’s first since 2008.
Galway, on the other hand, have played bridesmaid on several occasions. 2012 aside, they have largely been unsuccessful since their arrival in 2009.
Wexford will feel that it is their destiny to claim silverware at 4pm, as they carry with them a wave of momentum.
Galway’s fans are entering dangerous territory, though. The Tribesmen are beginning to believe. So many times this has left them heartbroken but this year feels different.
In this promo for the Leinster final, The Sunday Game have added famed RTÉ basketball commentator Tim McCarthy’s commentary to a selection of highlights from both counties, and it makes for an entertaining watch.
McCarthy is well known in the south-east. The colourful commentator’s involvement with the Wexford senior footballers is well-documented.
