With the venues and times of this weekend’s league quarter-finals and relegation play-offs announced, the season is beginning to hot up.
This was evident last weekend, with the style and intensity of hurling – some of it championship standard – that was on show.
The GAA’s official YouTube channel published the best of the weekend’s scores from the final round of matches and there are some absolute crackers.
The Kilkenny-Dublin game threw up some great points from long range and a well taken goal from Kilkenny’s Liam Blanchfield.
Subsequently, in the highlights from Ennis, there is an early contender for the Goal of the Season accolade. Clare forward Aron Shanagher displayed superb vision when releasing Podge Collins, who in turn smashed the sliotar into the top corner. Waterford wouldn’t be undone however, and the insurance point from Tommy Ryan was pure class.
Finally, in the Tipperary-Cork game we saw an inspirational long range effort from Pádraic Maher. Ultimately, though, Patrick Horgan would have the final say for Cork.
