The story of the championship has come to an end. It is not what they want to hear, but Tipperary have to be very proud of their efforts and achievements in 2016. They outplayed Mayo for large parts of the semi-final but two prevenetable goals were the difference in the end. Here we have some the public reaction.

Tipp boys can be so proud nothing lost in defeat. They are a better footballing team than Mayo but the legs ran out. Super effort #tippvmayo

Great reception for Tipperary as they leave the field. Didn’t feel like a five-point defeat for them.

Maybe now we will see some respect for Tipperary football instead of the usual condescending guff from those who should know better

Controversial decisions aside, congratulations to Tipp on a great fight to the end. This is just the beginning for this team #tippvmayo
