Tipperary are operating on a completely different level to Waterford and if their prolific forward line play anywhere near their standard, it will end in a hefty defeat for the Deise.
What: Munster Football Championship Quarter Final
Who: Tipperary vs Waterford
Where: Semple Stadium, Thurles
When: Saturday 19th May. Throw in is at 7pm.
Odds: Tipperary 1/33, Draw 28/1, Waterford: 11/1
Waterford very nearly caused a massive upset in last year’s Munster Championship when they pushed Cork all the way before losing by a point. They were then outclassed in the qualifiers against an average Derry side.
With just one league victory this season, Waterford face a near-impossible task to beat Tipperary in their own stadium. It has been nine years since Waterford last won a game in Munster and there are few signs of that changing this year.
Manager Tom McGlinchey said as much in a recent interview.
“Let’s be realistic here, Tipp are probably going to beat us and beat us well”.
Liam Kearns has a strong side to pick from for Saturday’s contest. Steven O’Brien and Emmet Moloney are carrying minor injuries but are likely to be available for selection.
Prediction: Tipperary by 12+ points
