Maurice Shanahan stepped out of his brother’s shadow to be well regarded as one of the top marksmen in intercounty hurling, winning an All-Star award in 2015.
2007 Hurler of the Year Dan is a selector on the Waterford team these days, but is still hurling away for his club, Lismore.
The brothers helped Lismore to a Munster Intermediate title last year, and now the club are back up at senior.
Today, they were playing a Championship match against Passage and at half-time, things weren’t looking good.
As reported by Tomás McCarthy, Lismore trailed by 16 points at the break. But the Shanahan brothers spearheaded a remarkable comeback, scoring 27 points between them to earn a win.
What a result!
Maybe it’s time for Derek McGrath to reconsider Dan’s role in the county squad. He evidently still has plenty to offer on the field rather than the sideline!
