TG4, sponsors and broadcasters of Ladies Gaelic Football have released a controversial new advertisement ahead of this year’s commencement of All-Ireland coverage on the channel.
The ad, see below, has divided the opinion of many.
“The most important nine months of a woman’s life” is the caption on the new advertisement and sees a ladies footballer pictured cradling a gaelic football as if it was a pregnancy bump.
TG4 aim to symbolise the hard work, dedication, commitment and passion involved with all women associated with the game.
The ad has been caught up in the Twitter limelight lately and has been the topic of much debate. Many see the ad as a powerful one, capturing the essence of determination in every inter-county star’s mind.
However, others have been offended by the ad, saying the image is ”disgraceful and inappropriate”, and it ”doesn’t promote the right message at all.”
TG4 have done a huge amount for the game of ladies football and will, hopefully continue to do so. This image has caused plenty of controversy, however it has got people talking about the game.
