Waterford and Kilkenny played out a remarkable draw in Croke Park yesterday, as the Déise took the fight to the Cats. Ultimately, they did not have enough in the tank to see the game out, despite leading by five points in the second half.

Austin Gleeson and Pauric O’Mahony put in huge displays for Waterford as they came close to causing one of the biggest upsets in recent times. However, Kilkenny’s raw class was telling, and they found a way back into a game which many thought they had already lost.

The replay has been set for next Saturday evening in Thurles.

This may favour the Déise, as it is a venue in which they have had much success.

Meanwhile, Kilkenny have had limited Championship games in the Home of Hurling, the last coming in 2013 when they lost to Cork in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

The fact that Waterford have already played there four times this year means that it will be like a home game for them.

We asked the Pundit Arena community over on Twitter to see who you think will win the replay next week, and most fancy the Cats.
