The race to be crowned All-Ireland Club Hurling winners is warming up as the county championships, barring Galway, have reached their conclusion.
As we get ready for the provincial competitions, excitement is building, and Ballygunner’s dramatic victory over Thurles Sarsfields certainly whet the appetite.
The Waterford club now march on to face Sixmilesbridge in this weekend’s semi-final, while 2016 All-Ireland champions Na Piarsaigh of Limerick take on Cork outfit Blackrock.
Munster has always been a bloodbath, and this year promises to be no different.
Meanwhile reigning All-Ireland champions Cuala have been thrown in at the deep end for their Leinster title defence, facing Dicksboro. The winner will take on St Martin’s of Wexford, who are being tipped following their de-throning of Oulart The Ballagh.
