Kilkenny hurlers always look so at home in Croker, and they are only going to get more comfortable.
Shortly after the “Cats” put the finishing touches to Galway to claim their 36th All-Ireland hurling title, fans in attendance at Croke Park were treated to a truly touching sight, as Richie Power and his son, Rory, took to the sacred sod for a casual puck around.
Sports broadcaster Jacqui Hurley tweeted a wonderful photo of the moment yesterday, and it has since garnered a great deal of attention online….
While the picture of the father and son duo pucked at the heart strings of many observers, supporters in other hurling strongholds must have felt a sense of terror. With Kilkenny “kittens” getting experience at headquarters on the first Sunday in September at such a young age, Croke Park will never be a daunting environment for them, but rather a second home.
Just your average afternoon, indeed.
