Mayo’s Cillian O’Connor and Dublin’s Philly McMahon are free to contest this Saturday’s replay.
Despite footage showing Cillian O’Connor striking Rory O’Carroll and Philly McMahon headbutting Aidan O’Shea, both players will be available to play this weekend.
The CCCC met last night to discuss the contents of Joe McQuillan’s match report, however no action will be taken against either O’Connor or McMahon.
Despite forcing Rory O’Carroll out of the game after only three minutes, O’Connor’s action was not deemed a red card offence by the disciplinary body.
Similarly the CCCC found that McMahon had not made contact with O’Shea, and as a result will not face sanction, despite the Mayo forward claiming he was indeed headbutted.
Although both rulings are likely to cause further controversy, Diarmuid Connolly faces an anxious wait to see if his red card will be over turned on appeal.
Connolly was sent off for striking Lee Kegan late in last Sunday’s drawn game.
