Mayo In Turmoil As Players Revolt Against Management

Mayo’s players have lost confidence in joint managers Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly.

The Irish Independent have today reported that Mayo Captain, Keith Higgins, and Vice Captain, Cillian O’Connor, met with Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly over the weekend to inform the duo that the players had lost confidence in them.

Although Holmes and Connelly were controversially appointed to replace James Horan last season, under the joint managers, Mayo won their fifth consecutive Connacht Title and only lost to Dublin in the All Ireland Semi Final after a replay.

Nevertheless, the players met last weekend to vote on whether or not they had confidence in Holmes and Connelly.

The results of that vote became apparent today, although rumours of discontent had been circulating since Aidan O’Shea Tweeted, ‘logic and Mayo GAA rarely go together’
