Marty Morrissey and John Mullane were struggling to contain themselves!
Galway are through to the All-Ireland final, after defeating Tipperary by a single point in Croke Park yesterday. The Tribesmen and Premier went point-for-point in what was arguably the most exciting game in an already fascinating Championship.
With the tie looking destined for a replay in the final moments, Joe Canning stood up to fire over an outrageous score from the sideline to fire Galway into the All-Ireland final. It was surely the most dramatic score of 2017, as Galway are now heavily tipped to end 29 years of hurt.
Nobody summed up the drama of the moment better than Marty Morrissey and John Mullane, who were on commentary duty with RTÉ Radio 1.
The pair went bonkers as the Portumna man knocked over the most dramatic of late winners, with Morrissey narrating the moment of the summer.
“Galway put the pressure on. The League and Leinster champions want their place. Back to Joe Canning in front of the Cusack Stand. He hits it in. He’s under pressure. The umpire is going for the white flag!”
Meanwhile, Mullane was roaring in disbelief!
“Take a bow son. We had Joe Connolly back in the day, but there’s only one Joe Canning, Marty!”
Take a listen. What a moment!
