The National Hurling League throws in this weekend and there are some cracking fixtures to look forward to.

Team news has been released in drips and drabs ahead of a number of exciting matchups.

Kilkenny travel to Páirc Uí Chaoimh to take on Cork in the Rebels’ first outing at their newly developed stadium on Saturday night.

The Cats lost out via an exciting free-taking competition in the Walsh Cup final last weekend at the hands of Wexford in Nowlan Park and will be hoping to get their 2018 league campaign off to a winning start over Cork.

Brian Cody has named a side relatively inexperienced at this level, with a number of fresh faces in the starting lineup who will be hoping to grab the opportunity they are being granted to forge a name for themselves ahead of the championhsip this summer.

Meanwhile, Waterford take on Wexford at home in Walsh Park on Sunday.

The Déise opted not to compete in the pre-season Munster Senior Hurling League competition as they adventured on a team holiday following their All-Ireland final loss to Galway in September. In the meantime they have been playing challenge matches.

Derek McGrath has selected a strong side to line out against Davy Fitzgerald’s charges.
