Joe Brolly is considering running for President.
A number of weeks ago we reported that the odds on Joe Brolly becoming the next President had been cut from 16 to 10/1, after a series of large bets were placed on the controversial pundit.
While we did not really take the news too seriously, the Belfast Telegraph have this morning revealed that Brolly has been contacted by ‘various political parties’ with the view if running for the Presidency.
Although the outspoken Sunday Game panellist maintained that he ‘couldn’t possibly comment’ on whether or not he would ultimately stand for office, he did say that any potential campaign would not include, ‘any razzmatazz’.
Brolly also indicated that any run for office would have to be a ‘zero cost campaign’, based on ‘important social issues and things like that’.
Like a true politician, Brolly then criticised the Office of the President for being ‘very ambassadorial’, claiming that previous Presidents were ‘unable, really, to influence any agenda’.
While he may decide not to run, we have to admit that we are excited at prospect of the Presidential debates being a little more like this…
