As we look forward to a cracking weekend of gaelic football action, and back upon the week that was, the fall-out of Davy Fitzgerald’s comments after Wexford’s loss to Waterford are still being discussed.
The outspoken manager hit out at RTÉ pundits Henry Shefflin and Michael Duignan for their comments surrounding the sweeper system.
The issue received airtime on RTÉ Radio 1 today on Saturday Sport, as Des Cahill was joined by Joe Brolly for his two cents.
Brolly failed to disappoint…
“I enjoy Davy Fitzgerald as much as the next man but no one craves the spotlight more than Davy.
“I was behind Davy at the Leinster final and every time he knew the camera would come to him he would go hyperactive.
“Don’t tell me that Davy loves the spotlight, he craves it. He wants to be the centre of attention at all times. The man would crawl over crushed glass to get to a mic and he loves publicity.
“To say it’s unfair for Michael Duignan to take him on about the sweeper system? It is a huge debate in hurling.”
