Meath legend Graham Geraghty is set to be featured on the new TG4 series of Laochra Gael. The popular show announced five new episodes yesterday, and will be released in the coming weeks.
The documentary focusing on Geraghty promises to be particularly interesting, following his glittered career. However, it could have turned out quite differently for the Royal County’s forward, after he had trials with Arsenal.
Indeed, he was invited over to the North London club after receiving praise from none other than Alex Ferguson, who saw him play at Croke Park in the 1994 U21 Leinster final.

Speaking at the launch of the series yesterday, Geraghty revealed how it was humbling to receive praise from the then-Manchester United manager.
“It’s always nice to be recognised by someone of his stature and that probably led to me getting a trial at Arsenal a few weeks after that. It’s always nice to get compliments from somebody who is probably one of the best managers in the world.”
For Geraghty, it has been a fascinating experience taking part in Laochra Gael, as he reflects on his career.
“It was great looking back on it now. I’m just looking forward to seeing the whole thing unedited and trying to remember what I said and what I didn’t say. When I see it I’ll say ‘Jesus, I didn’t mean to say that.!’
“It’s a fantastic programme. It is great to be asked to do it and I suppose when I see the whole thing in full and look back and see it put together it’ll be nice to have it in the archives, down the years when I’m grey and old.”
