This year’s Fitzgibbon Cup fixtures have been confirmed following tonight’s last round of games and there are a number of crackers to look forward to.
Group-toppers IT Carlow, UL, DCU and UCD have all received home draws following their group stage showing.
In the pick of the fixtures, DJ Carey’s IT Carlow will face Davy Fitzgerald’s LIT while UCC will take on tournament favourites UL.
In the other quarter-finals, DCU will take on reigning champions Mary I in what is sure to be an enthralling encounter. DIT will make the rather short journey to UCD in the final fixture. The talent on display in these games is bound to be immense.
Inter-county stars such as Colin Dunford, Richie Leahy, Cathal Dunbar and Enda Rowland will be hopeful their Carlow side can overcome an LIT team containing hurlers of Kieran Bennett, David Reidy, Peter Duggan and Diarmaid Byrne’s standard.
UL are the standout side in this competition with an array of inter-county stars such as Tony Kelly, Jason Forde, John McGrath and many more.
However, a UCC side with hurlers of Tom Devine, Mikey Breen and Mark Coleman’s quality will be hopeful of causing an upset.

Patrick Curran and Donal Burke have led DCU impressively thus far and will be hopeful of eliminating the current champions who possess stars such as Cian Lynch and Aaron Gillane.
Waterford attacker DJ Foran has been unstoppable for UCD so far and with help from Rob Lennon, James Maher and Tadhg de Búrca, they will be confident of defeating their Liam Blanchfield and Patrick Maher-inspired neighbours, DIT.
The fixtures are sure to be hugely exciting and the full round can be seen below.
