Meanwhile, it had been 10 years since Cora Staunton had been to a final, as she looked to add another medal to her incredible collection.

The narrative in the build-up today, along with the remarkable promotion by the LGFA, TG4 and Lidl all combined to produce the perfect storm, as a crowd of 46,286 filed into the Jones’ Road venue.

People were rightly impressed.
