Dublin’s James McCarthy Could Be In Massive Trouble After This Alleged Eye Gouge

Dublin’s James McCarthy seemed to make contact with Martin McElhinney’s eye.

Although Dublin made it six wins from six in this season’s National Football League with a 1-10 to 0-07 win over Donegal tonight, their discipline has once again come under the spotlight.

In what was an ill tempered affair, Donegal’s Michael Murphy and Dublin’s James McCarthy were both sent off for second bookable offences in the 52nd minute.

Murphy received his marching orders for sliding into McCarthy, while the Dublin wing back followed him into the stands for his reaction to the challenge.

However McCarthy could find himself in deeper trouble, after footage emerged of him allegedly eye gouging Martin McElhinney immediately after the incident involving Murphy.

Although the footage looks damning, both Senan Connell and Aaron Kernan argued that McCarthy was merely attempting to push McElhinney away.
