Dublin Suffer Major Blow In Bid To Defend All Ireland Title

Jim Gavin will have to find a new full back.

Current All Star full back and winner of three All Ireland medals, Rory O’Carroll, will be unavailable to Dublin as he intends to spend 2016 in New Zealand.

Dublin boss, Jim Gavin confirmed the news after Dublin’s O’Byrne Cup win over Wexford today in which O’Carroll played no part.

Although it was rumoured for some time that O’Carroll was mulling over the possibility of moving abroad, the loss of the All Star full back will come as a blow to Dublin, who previously struggled without the fullback.

Thoughts will now turn to replacing O’Carroll, with St. Vincent’s Jarlath Curley lining out at full back against Wexford.
