Unsurprisingly, All-Ireland champions Dublin dominate this year’s 45-player All Star nominations.
Eleven of the Dubs’ players feature while All-Ireland final opponents Kerry have received eight nominations, and unlike Dublin, the Kingdom’s are spread right through the field, from the goalkeeper all the way to the forwards.
Tyrone and Mayo, who competed at the business end of the competition, receive a hefty number of nominations due their performances in the latter stages of the All-Ireland Championship, while Fermanagh, Laois and Westmeath acquire one nomination apiece.
While the All Stars will be awarded at the Convention Centre, Dublin on November 6, the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year is also up for decision.
The POTY accolade is also dominated by the men from the capital. Defenders Philly McMahon and Jack McCaffrey are nominated for the coveted award whilst forward Bernard Brogan makes up the trio of Dubliners nominated.
No players from Dublin or Kerry are nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, however. The three nominees are made up of Ryan Mchugh of Donegal, Mayo’s Diarmuid O’Connor and Monaghan man Ryan Wylie.
