Last night, Gerry O’Connor and Donal Moloney were ratified as joint-managers of the Banner. The pair masterminded the All-Ireland u21 three-in-a-row, enjoying success with the majority of the current senior panel.

There is great anticipation in the county that this side can push on and win another All-Ireland title.
After lifting the Liam McCarthy Cup in 2013, they receded, and struggled to reach those heights again. Davy Fitzgerald oversaw a National Hurling League triumph this year, and much credit was given to the arrival of Donal Óg Cusack.
They fell short in the Championship, losing to Waterford in Munster before successfully negotiating the qualifiers. Galway had too much class in the quarter-final, but 2016 was definitely a step forward from the two previous years.
Therefore, the decision for Cusack to remain seems like a positive move for the squad.
