Watch: All-Ireland Champions Cuala Up And Running With First-Round Win In Dublin

Just two weeks after claiming their second All-Ireland title, Cuala were out in the first round of the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship today, as they faced off against St Brigid’s.

The Dalkey outfit were up against it having been pushed all the way by the same opposition in last year’s quarter-final, and given the lack of preparation time following the All-Ireland triumph. Having lost their first game 12 months ago, Mattie Kenny’s troops were eager to deliver.

After a slow start, it looked like the reigning champions were up against it as Brigid’s took the lead with a goal in the 27th minute.

However, the champions rallied, and Brian Fitzgerald put them back ahead as he raised a green flag.

Cuala won out on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-07.

There was an anxious moment for Cuala, and indeed the Dublin footballers, when Con O’Callaghan went down injured, but he recovered to play on.
