Ronan Lynch’s list of admirers just got a whole lot bigger after last night’s display of quality hurling and quality sportsmanship.
The Limerick u21 star produced a man-of-the-match display in last night’s Munster u21 final at Cusack Park in Ennis. The Na Piarsaigh club man scored a remarkable thirteen points as Limerick ran out winners on a scoreline of 0-22 to 0-19.
The game itself was another classic in the grade. Both sides enjoyed periods of dominance without a trace of tactics to be seen.
The U21 grade is renowned for performances filled with passion, exuberance and charisma and yesterday’s final was no different as Clare’s bid for four-in-a-row was crushed.
After being awarded man-of-the-match by TG4, Lynch gave his jersey to a young fan who was tasked by sponsors Bord Gáis Energy with presenting the Limerick man’s award.
Lynch, who only sat his Leaving Cert exams this summer, will look to inspire Limerick to All-Ireland U21 glory this summer. However, it doesn’t get any easier for the Treaty County as Galway, with the likes of Jason Flynn and Cathal Mannion in their ranks lie waiting for them in the semi-final.
