As the provincial club championships get underway, teams are coming back down to earth following their county titles, and are beginning to dream of bigger things. Climbing the steps of the Hogan Stand on St Patrick’s Day is the goal for clubs all around the country, but it will only be realised by one.
So who are the main contenders?
Dr Croke’s are favourites to retain their title, and their efficiency in Kerry adds to the belief that they can go all the way once again, after seeing off Clonmel last weekend. Nemo Rangers could provide their biggest threat in Munster.
Buoyed by their Dublin title on Monday, 2014 All-Ireland champions St Vincent’s will be major challengers, but Leinster is stacked with contenders, with St Loman’s, Portlaoise and Simonstown among those who will fancy a crack at the Dublin outfit.
Whichever club emerges from Connacht will be in with a serious shout, as Castlebar, Corofin and St Brigid’s have all been to Croke Park in recent years.
Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up Slaughtneil will be aiming to go one further, but Kilcar, Cavan Gaels and Derrygonnelly can’t be ruled out.
The odds on the All-Ireland Club Championship are available, and all the big names lead the way.
