Ballyea Are Going To Croke Park On St Patrick’s Day, And They’ll Take Some Stopping

Ballyea continued their remarkable run this evening, with a narrow victory over St Thomas’ of Galway. The Clare outfit had far too much class for the 2013 All-Ireland champions for the majority of the game, and will now march on to Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day.

Niall Deasy was tormentor-in-chief as Tony Kelly impressed yet again for Ballyea. Deasy’s second-half goal was the strike which gave them the edge, as it opened up an unassailable 12-point lead, despite a remarkable late fightback.

The physicality and the crisp hurling they implemented is not usual for February, and they were full value for a 1-19 to 2-14 win.

They will now face the winner of Cuala vs Slaughtneil in Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day.
