Jason Forde Not The Only Absentee For Tipperary Manager Michael Ryan To Worry About

Last night it was confirmed that Jason Forde’s one-match ban has been upheld, meaning the Silvermines star is set to miss Tipperary’s championship opener against Cork on Sunday.

The Premier have had several injury concerns over the past number of weeks, with mixed news on that front.

Seamus Callanan is likely to feature in the starting team, but the news is not as positive for Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher nor Michael Cahill. Bary Heffernan and Donagh Maher are also out.

Cahill was instrumental in Tipp’s march to the All-Ireland final last season, but had an off-day against Galway in the League final. The 2011 All-Star looks likely to miss out, leaving a hole in the fullback line.

Bonner Maher did not fully return to the fold upon his return to the country in the spring, but after the Premier half-forward line were cleaned out by the Tribesmen, many were looking forward to the 27 year-old’s return.

This will leave Michael Ryan short on options as he looks to the bench.

The Rebels will take heart from what they saw in the League final. Therefore if Tipp are not at their best, they could leave themselves open to what would be a huge upset.
