Stephen Rochford has identified the joint managers of the Breaffy senior football team as the men to join his backroom staff after the departures of Donie Buckley, Peter Burke and Tony McEntee.
Rochford has been on the lookout for those suitable to help guide Mayo back to the heights they reached in previous seasons after this year where they failed to reach the Super 8 stage of the Championship due to the high-profile loss to Kildare in the ‘Newbridge or Nowhere’ clash.
Peter Ford and Shane Conway are expected to be ratified as the new members of Rochford’s coaching staff at a County Board meeting next week, according to a report in The Mayo News.
Ford has considerable experience at intercounty level as the 56-year-old has managed both the Galway and Sligo senior footballers in the past, in addition to being a selector on the Mayo team who reached All-Ireland finals in 1996 and 1997.
Shane Conway was on Pat Holmes’ management team when Castlebar Mitchels won the Mayo SFC in 2013 before going on to lose the All-Ireland club final against Dublin’s St Vincent’s.
Ford and Conway will join Joe Keane, the only remaining selector from Rochford’s original team.
