All-Ireland Club Finals Moved To January As GAA Condense Calendar

The GAA Ard Chomhairle have decided to move the senior finals of the AIB All-Ireland club senior championships to a new date in January.

The announcement was made on Saturday afternoon. Currently, the senior club finals take place on St. Patrick’s Day, but in an effort to condense the club calendar, the finals will be played in January.

In 2020, the senior semi-finals in both hurling and football will be played on the weekend of January 4/5 and the finals in both codes will be set for January 19.

The reason for the move is to create opportunities for club activity and it would also allow counties in the Allianz Leagues access to players who were previously unavailable due to their club commitments.

Corofin are the current senior club champions in football and Ballyhale Shamrocks are the champions in hurling.
