At half-time in Croke Park, Limerick lead Waterford 1-12 to 0-10 in the Allianz League Division 1 Hurling Final.
A strong start from the All Ireland champions saw them go into a 0-8 to 0-3 lead after just 13 minutes on the clock but the Deise chipped away to leave just one point between the sides after 25 minutes played in the first half.
That was until Limerick’s Aaron Gillane produced a stunning shot to get his side a crucial goal as the first half drew to a close.
A short puck out to Richie English was played downfield to Tom Morrissey. The Ahane club man turned and sent a long ball into Gillane but instead of trying to catch the ball or take a touch, the star forward hit a first time shot past Stephen O’Keeffe a 1-9 to 0-8 lead.
