As East Kerry stormed their way to a first county title in two decades last month much of the talk centred on the magic of David Clifford whose scoring exploits drove on the divisional outfit.
While the name Clifford was uttered repeatedly throughout their march to glory, it’s fair to say that much of the praise was being lavished onto older brother Paudie who also played his part in lighting up the Kerry Championship.
Despite David bagging 1-3 in the county final victory over Dr Crokes, the younger Clifford was pipped to the man of the match award by Paudie who played a starring role from centre half-forward.
Despite winning a junior All-Ireland with the Kingdom back in 2018, Paudie Clifford has yet to make an impact within the senior set-up, unlike his brother who is fast becoming the most celebrated talent in the country.
However, as a result of his exploits in 2019, Paudie Clifford has now been called up to the Kerry senior panel for 2020 according to local media outlet, Kerry’s Eye.
According to the paper, Clifford, who has also starred for UCC in the Sigerson Cup, is one of 11 new faces added to the Kerry senior squad ahead of the 2020 season.
One other familiar face stands out among the newcomers as Dr Crokes forward Tony Brosnan is also included following a number of successful campaigns with the former All-Ireland club champions.
