Mayo have named their side to face New York this weekend in the opening round of the 2019 Connacht Senior Football Championship.
James Horan has handed championship debuts to James McCormack, Matthew Ruane and James Carr ahead of their trip to New York.
McCormack will line out at right half-back with Ruane in midfield and Carr at the top of the left.
Ruane and Carr both started the recent league final win over Kerry. On the day, Ruane scored a goal whilst Carr chipped in with 0-2.
The big Breaffy midfielder was the undoubted star of this year’s league campaign slotting into the Mayo line-up seamlessly and forming a solid centre-field partnership alongside clubmate, Aidan O’Shea, who he will partner once again this weekend.
Rob Hennelly returns to championship action in goal with an extremely experienced and strong full-back line including Chris Barrett, Brendan Harrison and Keith Higgins manning the square.
Former Footballer of the Year, Lee Keegan, continues in his new role of centre-back with the incoming McCormack and Paddy Durcan flanking him.
Jason Doherty continues to operate at centre-forward while stalwart, Kevin McLoughlin, is named at right-corner forward.
McCormack is one of two changes to the side that defeated Kerry by 2-10 to 3-11 in March’s final at Croke Park. The other change sees Evan Regan come in at wing-forward with the experienced duo, Donal Vaughan and, captain, Diarmuid O’Connor making way.
Paddy Durcan will captain Mayo on the day.
