Allianz Football & Hurling League Decider Set For HQ Triple-Header

The GAA have moved to announce that both Allianz Division 1 finals will be played in Croke Park on Sunday as part of a triple-header alongside the Camogie league decider.

The decision was made following the final round of fixtures in the football league today which coincided with a Nowlan Park double-header in the hurling semi-finals.

The Allianz Hurling League decider was originally scheduled for today, however, multiple games were rained off a few weeks ago meaning that the league schedule had been pushed back.

Now it has been decided that the final, which sees Waterford taking on All-Ireland champions, Limerick, will throw-in at 2 pm in Croke Park this day week and will be immediately followed by the meeting of Kerry and Mayo in the Allianz Football League final at 4 pm.

Galway and Kilkenny will kick off a bumper day of action at HQ in the Camogie league final which throws in at 12 pm.

Normally, the Division 2 final acts as the curtain raiser on football league finals day, however, it has been pushed back to the Saturday. The meeting of Meath and Donegal will now take place alongside Leitrim and Derry in the Division 4 final.

The Division 3 final looks to be pushed back a week, again due to weather. Louth were due to play Westmeath in Round Six, however, the game never took place. Louth subsequently went on to beat Down today and end their hopes of promotion, while Westmeath came away with a four-point win over Longford.

Today’s results mean that the re-fixture between Louth and Westmeath has effectively become somewhat of a league semi-final with the winner set to take on Laois in the final. The game will take place next Saturday in Drogheda and will throw in at 2 pm.
