Horgan And Walsh Take Player Of The Month Awards For June

Patrick Horgan has been awarded the PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Month for June following his display for Cork in the Munster Championship.

The Glen Rovers man scored 0-11 in a sensational performance in the final against Clare to bring his tally to 1-42 for in his provincial campaign.

The 30 year-old will be a key figure for the Rebels when they take on Limerick in the All Ireland semi-final on Sunday week. The game ended in a draw when these two sides met in the round robin series with Horgan registering 1-11 that day.

Meanwhile Shane Walsh has grabbed the gong for footballer of the year after his performances helped Galway lift the Connacht title last month.

The 25 year-old scored 16 points throughout their campaign wins over Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon. He was also highly influential for the Tribesmen in their win over Kerry in the first round of the Super 8s in Croke Park last Sunday.

Kevin Walsh’s men now travel to Newbridge next weekend to face Kildare with a win all but guaranteeing them a spot in the All Ireland semi-final.
