Paraic Fanning Names First Waterford Team For Clash With Cork

New Waterford hurling boss, Paraic Fanning, has named his team for his first clash in charge as the county take on Cork in the Co-op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League in Mallow tonight. 

Newly appointed captain, Noel Connors is named in the team, alongside other experienced players like Michael “Brick” Walsh who is set to begin his 17th season with the county.

Shane Fives, Jamie Barron, Kevin Moran and Stephen Bennett have all been named in the strong side.

Fanning took over from Derek McGrath who stepped down last summer when the county failed  to progress from the Munster round-robin series. McGrath had been in charge of the Deise since 2013.

Meanwhile, Cork have also named their side for the Round 2 encounter.

In his team manager, John Meyler, has included Christopher Joyce, Eoin Cadogan and Damien Cahalane, who will captain the side.

Throw-in in Mallow tonight is 7.30pm.
