For the second year in-a-row, the Allianz Hurling League has faced disruption due to poor weather conditions.
In the final week of group games, three games were postponed. In Innovate Wexford Park, the pitch was deemed unplayable 30 minutes before throw-in between Wexford and Kilkenny. Prior to that, Cork v Tipperary, due to be played in Pairc Ui Rinn, was also postponed.
Meanwhile, in Division 1B, the meeting of Waterford and Galway was called off following an inspection in Walsh Park.
The results of the day’s other games mean that Division 1A leaders, Limerick will face Laois in the first quarter-final. That game will take place next Saturday night, March 9, in Portlaoise with throw-in set for 7pm.
The rescheduled games will take place on Sunday, March 10, when all the quarter-finals were due to be played.
The quarter-finals will now take place on the St Patrick’s Bank Holiday weekend and the semi-finals on the weekend of March 23/24.
The League final has been moved to the weekend of March 30/31. The Allianz Football League finals are set to take place in Croke Park on Sunday, March 31.
That decision was made in order to prevent inter-county games being played during the month of April, which has been set aside for club games.
