Mayo

Kildare v Mayo.

Kildare v Mayo is one of four All-Ireland football qualifiers that will be broadcast live on TV this weekend, as we move towards the business end of the Championship.

Having reached the Leinster Final, where they were beaten by Dublin, Kildare enter the qualifying stage at the second round, along with fellow provincial runners-up Limerick, Roscommon and Donegal.

Mayo, on the other hand, were busy over the Bank Holiday weekend, defeating Monaghan by a score of 1-13 to 0-12 on Saturday.

Here’s everything you need to know about the crucial encounter between Kildare and Mayo this weekend.

When is Kildare v Mayo?

Kildare v Mayo will take place on Saturday and will be the second of a Croke Park double-header after Clare v Roscommon.

Will it be on TV?

Both games will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Arena, with Kildare v Mayo throwing in at 6pm, after Clare v Roscommon, which starts at 3.45pm.

How is the form of both counties?

Kildare made light work of Louth in the Leinster quarter-final, before overcoming a resilient Westmeath side in the last four.

Dublin proved too strong in the final, as the leaky Lilywhites went down 5-17 to 1-15.

Mayo fell at the first hurdle in Connacht, losing to old rivals Galway by a solitary point on April 24th.

They then had to wait until last Saturday for their meeting with Monaghan, with a penalty goal from Cillian O’Connor ultimately proving vital.

Although Monaghan felt unlucky not to have been awarded a late penalty, with manager Séamus ‘Banty’ McEnaney airing his frustrations after the final whistle.

“I thought it was a stonewall penalty at the end and I’ll be honest with you, I think we were robbed at the end,” McEnaney said.

“I thought the refereeing decisions at the end were terrible in two or three scenarios. It’s very disappointing from our point of view. It’s very hard to manage a team when you’re coming up against things you can do nothing about.”

What is the team news?

Team news will be reported in due course.
