After the weekend’s hurling action, we now know the draw for the quarter-finals of the National Hurling League.
With uncertainty about the structure of next year’s competition still unresolved, this year’s quarter-finals are still between the top four from Division 1A and the top Four from Division 1B.
With so many permutations going into this weekend’s games there was nothing certain come Sunday, except that Tipperary and Wexford would top the two groups and therefore play fourth place from the other group. Also, similarly to last year, second in 1A plays third in 1B and vice versa.
Cork’s surprise win over Tipperary ensured that they finished second in the group. That meant that they play Limerick – who were beaten by Galway in what was, for all intents and purposes, a second/third place play-off.
There is also a fascinating all-Leinster tie as Kilkenny, who beat Dublin on Sunday, face Wexford.
The National Hurling League quarter-final draw:
Tipperary v Offaly
Cork v Limerick
Waterford v Galway
Kilkenny v Wexford
Division 1A relegation play-off
Clare v Dublin
Division 1B relegation play-off
Laois v Kerry
