Watch: Limerick Hurlers Belt Out ‘Seán South’ In Dressing Room

It may have taken 45 years, but Limerick’s All Ireland triumph was worth the wait.

John Kiely’s side weathered a late comeback from defending champions Galway in the eight minutes of added time.

Prevailing by a scoreline of 3-16 to 2-18, Limerick could finally lay claim to the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

In a sign of things to come in the Munster county, the players celebrated afterwards in the dressing room by singing ‘Seán South’, a song about the infamous IRA member.

The song’s artists even congratulated the team on their victory.

The musical theme of Limerick’s win was expanded upon by commentator Marty Morrissey during the game, with him poignantly paying tribute to the late Dolores O’Riordan.

Limerick resident and businessman J. P. McManus was also present in the room.

The thoroughly deserved party will go on for months to come, with that celebration continuing at the Gaelic Grounds tomorrow for the homecoming.
