Games often turn on small decisions and the epic clash between Kerry and Dublin was no different.
As the game ticked toward it’s conclusion, Kerry’s James O’Donoghue decided to have one last look at the posts, lost control of the ball and Kevin McManamon scored from the subsequent turnover to put Dublin one point ahead.
Although the game was far from finished, McManamon did his best to keep Kerry out at moments later, when he put in a massive bone crunching shoulder on Peter Crowley.
The challenge lifted the crowd, and put Dublin in the driving seat to once more get the better of the Kingdom in Croke Park.
However, the nature of the shoulder has left some wondering whether or not Kerry have should have instead been awarded a free in to level the game.
Indeed, McManamon appeared to make contact with Crowley’s chest rather than his shoulder.
Although such trivialities will not worry McManamon following his brilliant performance, some Kerry players and fans have every reason to at least argue their point.
