Cork manager John Cleary has vented his frustration after Sean Brady failed to have his red card overturned.
Brady, who was sent off against Kerry in their Munster SFC semi-final defeat, will now miss this weekend’s All-Ireland group game with Meath.
In a double blow for Cleary, defender Tommy Walsh could also miss out with injury.
Brady was controversially dismissed in extra-time for a tackle on Joe O’Connor in which Cleary stated was “definitely not a sending off” in the aftermath of the game.
They appealed to the GAA Central Committee Hearing, however, the rejection means he will serve a one-match ban.
“We were disappointed when he was sent off, and to doubly compound it then, he appealed and it wasn’t successful,” Cleary said.
“Anyone I spoke to all over the country couldn’t understand why it was a sending-off. Yet when he appealed it, they doubled down on it.
“There’s a new system in place where you can’t appeal the actual incident, you can only appeal the first hearing.
“I wasn’t aware of that until this came up. All you can do is appeal a technicality on the hearing you’ve got, you can’t appeal the incident.
“I’m sure if you brought in a lot of people in football, people around the country, I don’t think too many would have confirmed it was a sending off.”
Cleary also questioned whether fellow managers will adjust their tackling tactics following the decision.
He added: “What Seán was sent off for was behaving in a manner dangerous to an opponent.
“If they’re going to bring that into the GAA every time a fella goes for a 50-50 ball, there is an element of danger there.
“It’s disappointing, but we exhausted the avenues on it and put it behind us.
Cork sweating on Tommy Walsh fitness
Cleary confirmed Walsh is dealing with a heel injury and a decision will be made later in the week.
Cork will be without Kevin O’Donovan, who remains a long-term absentee with an ankle issue.
The boss told the Southern Star: “The only one now that might be struggling for the weekend is Tommy Walsh.
“He picked up an injury in the Kerry game and hasn’t trained fully yet. We won’t make a call on that until later in the week.”
Conor Corbett, Luke Fahy and Sean Meehan could all make a return to action having returned to full training.
